Large Southeast Asian Bronze Rain Drum (sold Individually)
A remarkable and imposing bronze rain drum from Southeast Asia, also known as a frog drum or drinking table, made in the traditional Shan style and probably originating in eastern Burma (Myanmar). Attributed to the skills of Karen tribal craftsmen, this drum features intricate tribal decoration and an exceptional finish.
It boasts a rich verdigris patina and a conical shape with sturdy side handles for suspension. The round top is adorned with carved frogs, concentric rings and a central sun or star motif. Both sides are decorated with five elephants in relief, a rare and striking detail.
