Authentic oval-shaped reliquary in filigree silver, decorated with volutes and openwork typical of 18th-century Italian religious goldwork.
Description
Under glass, on a decorative background in gold and red paperolles, are two relics accompanied by handwritten cartouches, one of which, perfectly legible, is identified as S. Jo. a Cr. → Saint John of the Cross (1542-1591), Carmelite mystic,
Doctor of the Church and great reformer of Carmel. The other, above, also provided with a handwritten name paper, the legibility of which is difficult today, and which cannot be identified with certainty.
On the reverse, the reliquary retains its silk threads and its ecclesiastical red wax seal, guaranteeing the authenticity of the relics.
