Rare devotional reliquary frame with a contact relic (clavus ferreus) of a holy nail from the Passion, sealed with red silk threads and wax seals, accompanied by full documentation.
Description
• Front: Engraving depicting the Titulus Crucis (INRI), as preserved in the Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme in Rome, with mention of the bull of authenticity of Pope Alexander VI dated 29 July 1496.
• Reliquary: Iron nail fixed and sealed, presented under glass
• Back: Printed and handwritten certificate from the Cistercian Monastery of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme (Rome), attesting that it is a contact relic of a nail from the Crucifixion.
Document dated 1860s, signed by the custodian D. Gregorius Barberi. Molded and gilded wooden frame with scroll decoration.

Well-preserved frame, slightly oxidized engraving, partially damaged seals but relic intact and securely sealed.
