Important and large "Shah Abbas" Tabriz rug from a castle in Belgium.

Beautiful design (without a central medallion), a unique emerald green color, very rare in Tabriz rugs.
On an emerald field, a scattering of "Shah Abbas" flower palmettes, foliage twisted in the shape of stylized diamonds.
Seven borders, including the main one in ruby, decorated with a polychrome motif reminiscent of the central field.
Shah Abbas rugs feature a border depicting a vine and flowers with a field of elaborate palmettes of angular blooms and vines.
These rugs are called "Shah Abbas" after the Iranian monarch of that name who reigned from 1587 to 1629 AD. Shah Abbas was the 5th Safavid king of Iran.
He is generally considered the greatest ruler of the Safavid dynasty. He left a profound mark on the society and artistic heritage of the year, renovating the country's spectacular shrines, and transforming its trade relations with the rest of the world.
Today, Shah Abbas rugs are considered among the finest Persian rugs; they perfectly reflect his style, bringing elegance and grace to any room they adorn.

Condition: Good overall condition. Wool slightly lower in the center of the rug but not visible, abrades in the center visible only on one side of the rug.
Selved edges completely redone on both sides of the rug.
