* Influenced by the works of artists such as Cézanne and Van Gogh as well as by the painter Daubigny discovered in Pont Aven, André Even paints synthetic and refined landscapes.
It is easy to recognize his paintings by their geometric orchestration. Fallow fields, Breton houses, and cultivated plots are the components of his canvases, rigorously ordered using the golden ratio.
His style lies somewhere between primitive Italian painting and contemporary painting.
The subjects he treats are presented in different color dominants and contribute to creating renewed pictorial experiences.
Another characteristic of his work is the use of paint he makes himself, a skillful combination of pigments, virgin wax, Indian ink, oil, and varnish.
All of his work offers a feeling of peace and serenity.
André Even's artistic journey is closely linked to Pont-Aven, where he was born, and its surroundings.
After living far from his native region, André Even returned to Pont-Aven in the 1950s.
At that time, he painted frescoes in the surrounding churches of Névez, Concarneau, and Lorient. He also painted a crucifixion, which he donated to the parish church of Pont-Aven.
He later abandoned religious painting and became interested in rural landscapes, at the Aven and Belon.
