*Georges Boucard was born on October 23, 1895, in La Roche-sur-Yon, Vendée. Married to Simone Fontaine, he worked as a sign and decorative painter before dedicating himself to painting full-time. He was honorary president of the AC 14-18 and 39-45 painters' associations and a Knight of the Academic Palms. The city of Lorient owns a beautiful painting by this artist, depicting the Saint Louis church in Lorient after the fire caused by the bombings of 1943. Paintings by this discreet artist occasionally come up for auction.
