Sea, Oil On Canvas By Arsène Chabagnan Or Arsen Shabanyan
Arsène Chabanian was born in Erzéroum in 1864 of Armenian parents. He was naturalized French by decree in 1924.
A pupil of Jean-Paul Laurens and Gustave Moreau, and a member of the Société des artistes français, he exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1894, winning an honorable mention in 1896. He also received an honorable mention at the 1900 Universal Exhibition.In 1929, he exhibited the canvases Summer Night on the Esterel and Golden Evening on the French Riviera at the Salon.
Arsène Chabanian died in 1949 in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
