Reliquary Of Saint Germier With Relic Paste - 18th Century
Remarkable congregational work from the end of the 18th century, in a paperolles montage framing a beautiful plaque in molded then painted relic paste, bearing the effigy of the Child.
He is represented here as Salvator Mundi, that is to say crowned, carrying a scepter and cruciform orb which symbolizes the temporal and spiritual domination of Christ.
The relic paste is a rare mixture of plaster, glue and relic dust. A label in the upper left corner DPSM, acronym meaning "Of Several Holy Martyrs", attests to their presence. Finally, Saint Germier, bishop of Toulouse in the 6th century, is also present by a clearly visible ex-ossibus relic.
Dimensions of 42 cm by 35 for this large format in excellent condition.
Allow for delivery because this piece cannot be sent by post, due to the traditional fragility of rolled paper montages.
