Ostensoir Soleil , Bronze France XIX Eme Siecle Par Demarquet Frères Orfèvre
Ostensor sun in gilded bronze resting on three feet adorned with foliate motifs.
The terrace, composed of several doucines and shaped with six lobes, is enriched with round medallions decorated with quatrefoils, instruments of Christ's Passion, a crown of thorns with Passion nails, as well as a stylized cross.
The shaft, of tubular section, is chased with lozenges and foliate motifs. It features a large toric knot sculpted with square buttons decorated with quatrefoils and medallions with palmettes on a guilloché background. Above, a pinnacled crown adorned with fleur-de-lys marks the transition to glory. At the base of the knot, a ring holds an ornamentation of large water leaves falling onto the foot's terrace.
The large central bezel is surrounded by a sprig of leaves and encircled by pearl friezes. The enlarged bezel is adorned with openwork cutouts of guilloché foliage, surmounted by groups of three leaves in perfect harmony with the rays emanating from the glory. A cut bronze flowered cross crowns the whole above the glory. Neo-Gothic style The monstrance retains its original gilded silver lunula (with wear to the gilding), as well as its carrying case, still usable but in poor condition, showing various accidents.
