A rare lot to find, these mortars, a sort of slightly hollow, cup-shaped palettes, were used to finger powders and perfumes; these, marked chestnut or brown, were intended for dyeing tests... Beautiful objects, modest and hard to find...
one still has its black glossy paper cap, wonderfully pleated, powder is inside, but label is too faded to read something other than "Paris!"
