Scissor Case, France, 17th Century, In Engraved-gilt Iron.

Iron lace engraved of flowers and gilded for this small case for embroidery scissors, 17th century.
(Similar to the Le Secq museum in Rouen).
At period, a chain passed through side slides attached it to a belt clip, the sliding opening allowed to always have small scissors ready to use.
Beautiful engraving work, on surface and also on all sides, the flexible leaves unfold on a background tool pitted-hatched .
No millimeter without engraving!
Gilding a little faded anyway is rare to find
Dimensions = 7.8cm x 4cm. Good condition, little used, no flaws
