Museum: Samuel Alcock For Hill Pottery: Pair Of Amazon Lamps, 1860 flag

Object description :

"Museum: Samuel Alcock For Hill Pottery: Pair Of Amazon Lamps, 1860"
Brilliant pair of porcelain oil lamps,  vermilion background, adorned with a polychrome lithographed decoration enriched with gold, inspired by ancient Greece: battle of the Amazons, prestigious chariots.
Porcelain is due to the English factory of Hill, in Burslem, decoration to its famous artist Samuel Alcock, whose works are in the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the British Museum: (see the last 2 photos).
Bronze mount of these oil lamps, pump system, not electrified is complete of all its elements, (an upper ring is hidden in one sleeve), but in view of a welding on tank hidden under bottom, I doubt that one of pair is still usable.
Good dimensions, 45cm x 16.5cm; weight: 5kg. Comes from an old collection, porcelain in good condition guaranteed. Bronze mounting to be cleaned... Take a good look at our photos.....
