Very beautiful object, the lid of a Louis XIV or Regency snuffbox, of those oval and flat snuffboxes that we saw appear in France under the reign of Louis XIV, to contain the very popular "Nicot grass" . This oval ivory medallion, circled of metal, is studded with a thousand brass points, highlighting the contrasts of a classic arcature and garden design, pilaster, semicircular arch, foliage, fruit, character, pigmented in shades of brown in three or four shades. Superb creation of an anonymous Parisian tabletier.
