Silver cup with twelve coin inserts Berlin, circa 1745 Berlin silver cup decorated with embedded ancient coins, in a particularly structured composition: twelve silver coins, four of which are in cartouches, surrounded by eight others that are closer together. This arrangement evokes examples known from the first half of the 18th century, particularly in the Berlin goldsmith tradition. The decoration with flower motifs and light rocaille scrolls places this piece in the pre-rococo style, specific to German goldsmithing of the years of this period. Goldsmith's hallmark in cartouche "MÜLLERS" in two superimposed parts. This hallmark is referenced in Rosenberg (Der Goldschmiede Merkzeichen), without mention of a first name, but attributed to the Berlin context. Hallmark of the city of Berlin (the bear).
