Solid Silver Coffee Pot And Carafe

Solid silver pitcher,by the Parisian silversmith Jacques-MASSON, active in Paris at the CourLamoignon beginning in 1807.

Ovoid in shape, it rests on three claw feet with appliquésacanthus leaves.
At the shoulder, a frieze of water leaves,repeated on the upper part of the lid,
highlights thevarious parts of the piece.
The lid rests on the neck,highlighted by a small beaded festoon, and is surmounted
by afruit-shaped finial, set on a leafy pedestal.

The cantilevered handle is set at its base into a plain bowl and secured at the neck by
a bowl with discschiseled with delicate rosettes.
The spout, with a zoomorphicshape, depicts the head of a mythical animal.

The harmony of the forms, the precision of the proportions, andthe balance of the composition
lend this coffee pot adistinct elegance.

Minor scratches from use, no chips or deformation; in very fine condition.
