Piet Volckaert (1901-1973). The Hauler at Sunset. Oil on canvas, signed lower left corner. Dimensions: Frame: 27 x 34 cm. Subject: 25 x 32 cm. Very beautiful light for this painting in orange tones. We can make out a landscape of factories with still smoking chimneys beyond the leaning silhouette of the man and the circling seagulls. Piet Volckaert (1901-1973) painted many cities, urban landscapes, Brussels and its alleys. Canals were one of his favorite subjects.
