Central door with a large moulded lozenge motif. Eight symmetrically arranged peripheral drawers. Woods: walnut (exterior) / pine (interior).
Originally, this cabinet would have been placed on a low stand or atop a chest; the two current “legs” are later additions, transforming it into a high-standing cabinet. The interior reveals three fixed shelves. This was likely intended as a repository for precious documents, coins, or personal objects within a noble domestic setting. It also features small concealed compartments beneath the lower shelf.
Late Renaissance / rural Baroque, with discernible Spanish influences in its geometric treatment and architectonic symmetry.
Very good overall condition. Original hardware and lock in fine working order. A slight movement is noticeable at the legs, which disappears once the piece is set against a wall. Of sturdy construction, the cabinet weighs approximately 70 kg.
