Antique French Art Nouveau Holy Water Font In Onyx And Cloisonné/enamel, Gilded With Fine Gold – Circa 1880
Superb large French holy water font dating from around 1885. Mounted on a white onyx plaque, it features a magnificent colored cross decorated with flowers in the Art Nouveau style.
Splendid colors: turquoise, blue, red, white, yellow, and black. The edges of the cross are gilded with fine gold. The back has the original ring; the blue silk on the back is worn.
Condition: Cross in perfect condition.
Onyx plaque: a few very small chips, two fine, discreet cracks on the left side of the cross. Not distracting, not broken.
Approximate dimensions:
High: 13.8 inch (= 35,2 cm)
Wide: 8.58 inch (= 21,8 cm)
Depth: 0.78 inch (= 2 cm)
