Very rare clock designed in honor of Queen Hortense.
Empire period circa 1805.
It depicts the plant in full bloom in a planter, in which the movement is set,
In chased bronze, mercury gilt and with a brown patina.
The enameled dial, signed "Gamot Père à Lille".
The sides decorated with garden tools,
The terrace with a spinning top foot, animated by an applique frieze decorated with a cupid in an exotic garden.
Very beautiful and fine quality of execution.
Magnificent brilliance of the original mercury gilding amatie with agate.
Complete movement with anchor escapement, silk thread suspension,
In perfect working order, serviced by a specialized watchmaker.
Strikes at the passage of the hours and half-hours.
Dimensions: 36 x 24 x 12.5 cm.

Hortense Eugénie Cécile de Beauharnais, Queen of Holland and Duchess of Saint-Leu (1783-1837), Daughter of Joséphine de Beauharnais and Alexandre François Marie, Viscount of Beauharnais, she became Napoleon's stepdaughter in 1796. She married Louis Bonaparte, Napoleon's brother, in 1802 and, when he was crowned King of Holland in 1806.
