The oval burlwood box is enhanced on the edge of the lid and base with a tortoiseshell border, themselves highlighted with a painted black border. The body is also painted with large oval cartouches enlivening the snuff box.
The interior is plated with tortoiseshell.
A large gold mount, contrasting with the dark tortoiseshell, enhances this box.
