Lawyer’s portrait in 1811, signed at the bottom right by Jean Jacques BESTIER.
This painter was born in Montpellier on 23 August 1754 and died in the same city on 8 May 1842.

This nice portrait is "in its juice".
It is to be restored but on its chassis and its original canvas.
The canvas is on the sides, in places, fixed with seeds and staples.

This oil on canvas is dated 1811, at the peak of the 1st Empire, 7 years after the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte Emperor.
The document that this lawyer is holding in his hand bears an inscription: "report of the trial between the general contractors of military beds and the sub-contractors" and the date: 1811.
