Rustamadji is a painter active in Indonesia in the 20th century. His work is poorly documented in Western sources, but similar portraits occasionally appear on the Asian art market.
Representing a realistic and naturalistic painting, Rustamadji captures the Indonesian daily life: market scenes, landscapes, local figures, Balinese dancers, with particular attention to light and details.
He is a member of the Sanggar Pelukis Rakyat, a workshop of progressive artists founded by Hendra Gunawan and influenced by S. Sudjojono, Affandi and other figures of post-colonial Indonesian realism.
Recognized by national institutions and figures, he remains a major figure in Indonesian art of the second half of the 20th century.
