French school circa 1820: "Romantic landscape with ruins", sepia wash and watercolor 28 X 41 cm, mounted by a beveled mat board in a frame with superb gilding 40 X 50 cm (small accidents).
Traces of old restorations and small molds to be removed with a brush during dismantling.
Characteristic of the Romantic School, this drawing of a beautiful format is treated with care in the vegetation of the foreground where sheep graze, then fades into a mist for the background dominated by the ruins of an old abbey surmounted by a sky suggested by a light watercolor.
