Neoclassical School, 1803 : "the Sleeping Shepherd"

Schoolof Neoclassicism, 1803 : “The Sleeping Shepherd,” pencil andstump drawing, 70 x 54 cm, mounted in its beautiful period frame, 91 x 75 cm (minor damages).
Straight from an attic, this pencil and stump drawing didn’t look like much when I bought it : covered in dust, its glass broken, large white halos…
But thanks to a beautiful restoration (dust removal and deacidification of the paper, replacement of the backing canvas,and a new mat), it’s presentable once again!
Traces of the white halos are still slightly visible, but it’s perfectly legible.
This sleeping young shepherd, perfectly in keeping with the canons ofNeoclassical aesthetics, monogrammed “L C.” (not yet identified) and dated 1803, is a beautifulsize and very elegant—it will delight collectors.
