Alexandre Evariste Fragonard received the teaching of his father Jean Honoré Fragonard before entering the " workshop of David. He was recognized as a History painter and painted many Troubadour subjects.
This study is reminiscent of the work of his father, a quick and light sketch of the characters where movement is very present. The two swimmers who play with the putti are a theme dear to Jean Honore Fragonard that one finds in his paintings and which also evokes the 3 Graces supposed to represent the Ruggieri sisters. The sheet is glued to a cardboard support.
