Original etching entitled “La Soif”, signed lower right Suzanne Tourte and dated 1930. This powerful composition depicts three nude figures in a hilly landscape, in an atmosphere imbued with classical serenity. The figure in the foreground, lifting a vase to quench his thirst, embodies the direct link between man and nourishing nature. Suzanne Tourte (1904–1979), a renowned French artist, was a student of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She notably exhibited at the Salon d’Automne and the Salon des Indépendants.
