"Rolf Kammann – Cricket Concert For Elves – Large Oil Painting Circa 1950"
Large oil on canvas signed Rolf Kammann, depicting a fantastical and narrative scene: an anthropomorphic cricket playing the violin in front of a group of five bearded elves, attentive, installed at the edge of a shore, at sunset. The whole gives off a folktale atmosphere, with particular attention paid to expressions, postures and light. Unusual and expressive painting, probably created around 1950, in a naive and imaginary style close to the illustration of Germanic or Central European tradition. The molded wooden frame with original marie-louise rose accentuates the decorative aspect of this unusual work.
