Magnificent ceremonial armchair in carved wood and gilded embossed leather, dating from the 17th century, from the province of Lunéville, renowned at the time for the quality of its cabinetmaking workshops. The high back is adorned with finely embossed and gilded leather decorated with coats of arms, foliage, and scrolls, typical of the Louis XIII style. The motifs include a central coat of arms surmounted by a crowned eagle, framed by stylized foliage. The back frame is decorated with antique brass nails and an original textile frieze. The curved and finely molded armrests demonstrate the expertise of Lunéville artisans. The turned base, connected by an H-shaped brace, gives the whole piece great stability. The upper uprights are topped with gilded acanthus leaf sculptures, symbols of prestige and stateliness.
