A Pair Of Antique Louis XIII-style Oak Armchairs, Upholstered In A Patchwork Of Antique Fabrics

Pair of French oak armchairs in the Louis XIII style, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.

These two armchairs feature a wooden frame typical of the historicist reinterpretations of the era: turned legs connected by an H-shaped crossbar and curved, comfortable armrests.

The frame has been restored and reinforced; in particular, small metal brackets have been added under the armrests to ensure perfect stability .

The armchairs are upholstered in crazy patchwork, made from antique fabrics, some of which are embroidered.This textile work was specifically designed for these armchairs; it follows the contours of the seat and backrest, creating a unique and harmonious decorative effect, in which every fragment of fabric contributes to a coherent artistic composition.

The upholstery work—using springs—was carried out by one of Rome’s finest artisans in the field.
