Very large and heavy serving dish from the Louis XV period in stelling silver. It is engraved with a very beautiful coat of arms topped with a marquis' crown, probably for a member of the Billeheust d'Argenton, Billeheust de Gourgoux or Billeheust de Saint-Georges family. Very thick and very solid, it weighs a very generous 1700 grams. The hallmarks are very legible. Charge mark (crowned A) and discharge mark (woman's head) and crowned X for 1760. Master goldsmith's mark PNS crossed crook and key for Pierre Nicolas Sommé.
