It is the famous designer Henning Koppel who created this iconic set for this famous Silversmithy in Copenhagen.
This set is quite representative for his work. It combines an absolute simplicity of forms with the great nobility of the most precious materials. In this case, sterling silver and Gaiac wood or lignum vitae, an exotic wood so dense that it sinks in water. Henning Koppel was only 34 years old when he created this masterpiece with which he obtained a gold medal at the Milan Triennale. He received a gold medal three times in 1951, 1954 and 1957 for various designs.
He continued to create jewelry and silverware for Georg Jensen until the end of his life.
But he also created porcelain, glasses, vases, and even lamps for various Danish firms. Almost all of these creations have become icons of 1950-60 design and are collected all over the world.
The service is still produced by Georg Jensen.
New, it costs almost €40,000 today in their online store.
The Set weighs around 5 kilos.
