"Large French School Portrait 1830-1840... Young Woman With A Gold Necklace"
Large and beautiful painting from the 1830s-1840s, which represents the portrait of a young woman with large curls in her hair, and who wears a long gold necklace... The canvas is not signed but its beautiful quality suggests the presence of an excellent artist who is certainly a good portraitist of the French school: there are in fact in his style elements which recall as much the manner of Jean-Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780-1860) as that of Louis-Léopold Boilly (1761-1845). Note: note that there is a small piece of paper between the canvas and the frame that mentions "Mazet Marguerite wife of Croze Hilaire, Father and mother of Adèle Croze wife of Alphonse Niboyet: a quick search on the web allows you to identify some of these surnames on a genealogy site that points to a family from the commune of Viviers located in Ardèche - plan to correct some missing parts on the periphery of the painting because it is an oil on cardboard originally mounted on canvas, as well as a light cleaning: here and there we see some traces of dirt and old varnish (quite basic to correct) - Canvas: 65 cm x 54 cm Old frame (shocks & missing parts): 77 cm x 66 cm - ask me for other pictures -
