Our portrait captures the image of a young woman taken in her intimacy, the upper body naked, probably coming out of the bath, her gaze absorbed in the contemplation of the ring set with a pearl which adorns her hand placed not far from her jewelry box from which emerge coral and gold necklaces.
The beauty of the model is typical of the Art Deco aesthetic with her short hair, plucked eyebrows, thin lips enhanced with a stroke of rouge and her cheekbones with rosy blush.
The work was included in the 1937 Salon and still bears the Salon label and its exhibition number as well as the price stated in francs 25,000 Francs. Its author, Marguerite des Fontaines, remains unknown, as no biographical information has been found.
