Sculpture Statue Pole Bongo South Sudan

Rare Bongo statue from South Sudan, it was originally at the top of a buried post but with erosion it probably came loose. Significant rutted patina due to a long stay outdoors, especially since it is a very hard wood chosen precisely to be outdoors. According to the file published in tribal art on these statues, it could be from the Tonj region, from a sculptor recognizable with square eyes . These statues are very rare on the market, and reach record prices. Height 104 cm, light wood, grayed in places, traces of red polychromy near the mouth, it is hollow and partly blocked with red earth, we can guess the arms stuck to the body and the shape of the hands.
