Vintage 9ct Gold Pendant Necklace With Large Colour-change Sapphire, Romantic Revival, 1970

Magnificent piece of vintage estate jewellery from the early 1970s. This striking pendant features a large lab-grown colour-change sapphire, mounted within an elegant 9ct yellow gold openwork frame with a pierced geometric border, reflecting the Romantic Revival style popular during the period.

The oval gemstone, estimated at approximately 23 carats, is facet-cut and secured with six double-claw prongs. It exhibits remarkable colour-change properties, shifting between shades of violet purple and intense royal blue depending on the light.

The pendant is suspended from a fine 9ct yellow gold cable chain, composed of oval links with a diamond-cut finish, and secured with a classic spring clasp.

A wonderful statement necklace from the vintage 1970s era, combining bold gemstone presence with delicate gold craftsmanship, and offering a distinctive yet timeless look.

Both pendant and chain are fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1970.
