Bronze with gilding. Thailand, late 18th or early 19th century. A decorative sculpture of the historic Buddha Gautama Shakyamuni, seated in the paryankasana on a three-stepped high throne; clad in royal attire, and with one hand in the bhumisparsha mudra; with rich decoration including protruding flames, the ushnisha ending in a prominent tapering point. The throne is adorned all around with small flames arranged in a row.
