## The Deccan or Dekkan most often refers to a vast plateau in India.
It extends over most of central and southern India.
At the beginning of the 15th century, there was an affirmation of Islamic influence.
Between the middle of the 14th and the beginning of the 17th century, an Indo-Muslim architectural style called the Deccan style developed.
Similarly, between the 16th and 18th centuries, a style of miniatures called Dekkanî flourished in the Deccan Sultanates.
