Oriental Market At The 1913 Universal Exhibition – Watercolor – Monogrammed And Dated
This beautiful watercolor in bright tones represents the oriental market of the Universal Exhibition of Ghent (Belgium), which was held in 1913.
We see the elegant crowd hurrying in front of the colorful stands. In the foreground, 2 women wearing hats admire pottery and copperware arranged on a carpet. A little further away, a man seems more interested in his companion than in the objects on display. The Moorish arcades, the hangings and the silhouettes of the visitors fill the background.
This watercolor is almost square in format. It is monogrammed LP and dated 1913 at the bottom right.
It is offered in a beautiful and large modern gilded frame (a small shock in the lower left corner), in a large mat, under glass.
It is an original work, very "fresh" and decorative.
Work visible at the gallery (07240).
