Oil on canvas, 65 cm x 50 cm, sold with its gilt frame (70 cm x 53 cm), signed lower right Maurice Bonnin, dated, titled, and countersigned on the back Maurice Bonnin 1968 Sunflowers, depicting a bouquet of sunflowers. Perfect condition. Sold with invoice/certificate.

Maurice Bonnin was born in Naples on August 12, 1911, and died in 1993. A major painter of Naïve art, he exhibited for the first time in Paris in 1960. The painting we are offering for sale is probably from this first exhibition. It is, of course, featured in several reference works on painting, and particularly on Naïve art. Thus, he can be found in the highly selective Naïve Guide to Paris alongside painters such as Emile Blondel and Luc Vieillard.

It should be noted that Maurice Bonnin is currently featured in Aladin magazine, where one of his works appears on the cover of the current issue. This visibility confirms his place within the field of French Naïve art and the growing interest of collectors in his work.
