kangling:
The rkang-gling ("femur trumpet") is used in particular to scare away evil spirits.
It can also be used to ward off hail. The bone, supposed to come from a person who died a violent death, is left to dry before being pierced.
The kangling (Tibetan: 开F含5, Wylie: rkang gling), is a wind instrument from the aerophone family which literally translates as "leg" (kang) "flute" (ling), the Tibetan name for a trumpet or a horn.
This small Tibetan bone trumpet should not be confused with the Tibetan oboe called gyaling or with those of the Mongols.
