Juno, Large Agate Cameo Mounted Brooch, 19th Century

Large Agate Cameo of Juno or Hera, Early 19th Century.
Superb two-layer agate cameo in very high relief representing the profile of Juno or Hera facing right.

Superb glyptic work, the sculpture is magnificent and deep.
The goddess is wearing a veil and a diadem, her hair is wavy and falls towards her shoulders.
The face is charming and smiling. The profile is in beige agate standing out against a background of zoned agate in gray and brown tones.
A red line underlines the veil of the goddess.
This cameo is mounted as a brooch in a very elaborate gold setting with a double frame with floral decoration formerly partly enameled.
Part of the royal blue and white enamel is worn by time in the upper part.
A pearl adorns the lower part of the brooch.

A remarkable glyptic work from the first half of the 19th century. The goddess is superb.

2.7 cm by 2.2 cm for the cameo and 5.5 cm by 3.5 cm with the gold setting and the pearl.
