Curiosity Of Apt Earthenware: Alcohol And Tobacco...
Artist: Faïenceries D'apt
Curious pair of Apt earthenware figures from the 19th century. In the guise of a gay couple, the man and woman each sit with a bottle in their hand. They are sitting on a terrace, looking a little tipsy, leaning on a grape picker's hood and holding a bottle in one hand. The circular terrace nicely decorated with a hand-made S frieze is decorated on the front with earthenware "vermicelli" and has a drawer with a branch-shaped pull button. Restorations as described: the upper part of the man's hood, his bottle and his head glued back together. Reattached head of the woman and restored drawer handle. The theme of alcohol is obvious here, it could be added that of tobacco with the drawers serving as storage and the hood for matches, but this is only a supposition... The restorations are quite well done and remain discreet. Note: a real curiosity for Apt earthenware. Delivery: €15 for mainland France.
