Pair Of Gilt And Chased Bronze Candlesticks, Empire Period Circa 1815

Superb pair of gilt and chased bronze candlesticks, late Empire period/early Restoration period, circa 1815. The candlesticks feature various motifs including lozenges, gadroons, rosettes, and spiral and vegetal designs. The original mercury gilding is matte and burnished with agate (shiny). They are in exceptional condition, without scratches or missing pieces. Given the quality of the chasing and gilding, they are surely the work of a renowned bronze caster. Height: 24 cm. Base diameter: 12 cm.
