Horse Hunters' Trumpeteer Helmet, Model 1913

HORSE HUNTERS TRUMPET HELMET: Model 1913 – Troop. White polished metal bomb. Crest, headband, feather holder, chinstraps, bangles and brass rivets. Brass headband with silver hunting horn attached to a radiant background. Crest with fins with 13 gadroons, mask with jellyfish head and palmette at the base. The cover plate is engraved with the hair of the jellyfish and two intertwined snakes. Red horsehair mane. Chinstraps with rosette and 13 scales of the model with buckle and strap. Wolf-toothed leather interior. 3rd Republic.

This helmet is rare: on April 22, 1914, the War Ministry had 3,800 hunter helmets and 1,880 hussar helmets. Trumpeteer ones only represent a tiny proportion of the helmets still in existence.
