Adolphe Deteix, in my opinion, was the best lyonnais painter of the 1920s and 1930s. Born in Amplepuis, in the Loire, 70 km north of Lyon, he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Lyon, then at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. While based in Paris, he maintained a strong connection with the Lyon region. It is noteworty that the original frame of this painting, dating from the 1930s, bears the label of a Lyon based framer, it thus comes from a Lyon collection.
