Painter of history, genre scenes, interiors, animated landscapes, still lifes, watercolorist. He was a student of Justin Lequien in Paris. In 1868, he settled in Geneva.
From 1873, he appeared in Paris at the Salon then Salon des Artistes Français of which he became a member in 1883. He obtained an honorable mention in 1885 and a third class medal in 1890.
He painted mainly genre subjects, d 'among which: The little musicians - Chamber music - Declaration to the neighbor - The rendezvous at the antique dealer - A happy omen - The bon vivant - A neglected beard - The last bottle.
