. Painter of animated landscapes, landscapes, watercolorist, engraver, draftsman.
Son of a farmer of the Duke of Vieuveille, he entered, as a valet, with the Duke who noticed his taste for drawing, took him under his wing and gave him Daniel Rabel as a master.
Following this training he worked in the studio of Simon Vouet.
He also became a great engraver after the drawings of Poussin, Asselyn, Paul Bril, Silvestre.
"He showed equal talent as a draftsman and engraver, painting landscapes, views in considerable number. He was inspired in his compositions by Claude Lorrain, Francisque Millet, but he retained a personal style that makes his prints recognizable at first glance."
