Superb Bambara statue representing the Feminine Ideal, these statues were used during rituals concerning young girls of marriageable age, they were coated with oil and brandished during the dances of these initiation ceremonies. Remarkable oily and shiny patina, minimalist and geometric, a small masterpiece, with gallery base. Total height 51 cm. Ex Belgian Serge Sheer collection. Dating early last century or before.
