Monumental and unique patinated copper vase, signed, in Ghalam Zani, baluster shape from Iran, Persia.
Probably Isfahan, the city best known for its ghalam zani.
The entire piece is in very good condition. Our vase rests on a large collared pedestal.
The piece is exceptional in several respects: its age, its size, its decoration and its finesse and quality of execution.
The body is decorated with numerous monabbat-kari peonies carved in relief, interspersed with four scenes in ghalam zani with hunting decorations or scenes found in miniatures from the Tabriz and Isfahan school.
These four scenes are incorporated into polylobed medallions (twelve).
The vase has numerous friezes of flowers and the entire piece is decorated with flowers, branches, palms and interlacing.
The top of the collar is smooth with two threads.
The base of the collar is adorned with elaborate foliage followed by a polylobed frieze (twelve).
## Engraving, called Ghalam Zani, is the art of carving designs on metal. Isfahan, Isfahan is the main center of engraving.
