Cornet vase with two gilt bronze handles resting on four slightly arched feet surmounted by palmettes. It is adorned with a beautiful decoration in cloisonné enamels of multi-lobed flower medallions and foliage scrolls on a purple background.

The Maison Barbedienne is a famous 19th century foundry, which quickly achieved great renown for its editions of statues and works of art. Bronze workshop, the company works however with other crafts, and associates its name with works of a great diversity, in particular in the furnishing. Present at all the Universal Exhibitions of its time, the Barbedienne House was regularly distinguished by awards, in particular during the Universal Exhibition of 1855 where it received the Great Medal of Honor.
